Our Ethos

At The Hollins we are a calm, safe and dignified school where we expect the very best from every one of our pupils. We set the highest of standards and are very clear about our pupils’ appearance, manners and attitude to learning – our rigorous policies and family handbook clearly outline our expectations. However, we manage to balance our high expectations with a climate of being an incredibly warm, welcoming and friendly school; hence excellent relationships are built with our youngsters as they know what is expected of them at all times. Visiting professionals are always extremely impressed with the warmth and friendliness of our pupils, and their ability to converse confidently about all aspects of our school. We really do encourage people to visit our school so that they can experience this for themselves! We also work extremely hard to ensure that our staff become the best version of themselves as we deliver an excellent CPD programme to ensure our pupils have the best professional staff in front of them.

We have children’s futures in our hands and we are tasked with teaching them right from wrong. So we make no apologies for setting high standards – our pupils deserve nothing less.

The Hollins 7 Values

We at The Hollins do our very best for our pupils and consequently they have a positive experience, fulfilling their potential both academically and personally, celebrating our differences and developing the character to make their mark in the world. Our 7 values underpin everything we do in school enabling our pupils to take their place in the World and become active citizens with the power to change the World.  Our pupils are encouraged to “Strive for Success” and fostering our 7 values will help them to achieve their success.

We have incredibly high standards with regards to appearance, behaviour and attitude to learning.  Our pupils know why our expectations are so high for every one of them – to become the best version of themselves.

The Hollins is proud to be part of the LET Education Trust

LET Education Trust was formed in spring 2022 and comprises of two secondary schools, The Hollins and Rhyddings and two primary schools, West End and Huncoat. The Trust was formed with the following vision and values.

“We are an inclusive partnership that has come together through a shared belief that all our children deserve the very best.  Ambitious for our pupils, staff, and communities – our purpose is to create opportunities and experiences for all of them to reach their potential.”

To ensure that our schools maintain their individual character we agreed that, “We value the things that make us different.  Our schools each have unique identity, history and ideals and we celebrate these qualities, while providing a supportive environment that allows us to learn from one another.”

Our Future

We encourage transparency, accountability and inclusivity to ensure all are given equal opportunities to succeed.

We recognise an exceptional education is essential for the futures of the pupils we inspire. We will build the values, skills and knowledge they need to aspire and succeed in life, whatever path they choose. We will help them grow as members of our community and give them opportunities to develop as individuals.

Working as one team to maximise our professional relationships, our knowledge and our resources, will ensure the group achieves more together. We will welcome like-minded schools who value autonomy but see the benefits in partnership and being part of a strong supportive team.
