WELCOME FROM Mrs S.Haydock, Headteacher

Welcome to our website! I hope that the information you find here starts to give you a feel for who we are as a school. We are fully comprehensive and serve a differing catchment area across Accrington and the surrounding area. We are not too big, at around 800 students, but big enough that we give our students enough opportunities to interact in a diverse community. Our children are real characters, but keen to impress themselves and the staff with their efforts and achievements, both inside and outside the classroom.

They feel safe at school and are confident that the staff are here to see them through five important years of education and development. Our seven core values express our very essence, and you can talk to any member of staff or student about how important these are to us: they underpin every action in the school so that our students understand what is required of them in the real world.

Obviously academic achievement is of the utmost importance to us, but we simply do not ignore the development of character and citizenship; hence being kind, honest, resilient, reflective, respectful, responsible and aspirational individuals is celebrated and valued.

Our parents are extremely important to us too – they are essential to a child’s learning and development; hence we try and encourage as much communication as possible between school and home. We invest heavily in both time and money to be able to support parents with the rocky road of “the teenage years” – a notoriously difficult path to tread! We continue to strive to make further improvements in this area, and we listen closely to what our parents say in order to continually improve our delivery of support.

The African proverb of “It takes a village to raise a child” rings true here at The Hollins – it takes a community to raise a child, and we are extremely proud to be part of the community who help raise the adults of tomorrow.

Please do not hesitate to come and look round our school if you are thinking of sending your child to The Hollins – we would be proud to open our doors to you and would delight in showing you our wonderful students and staff.
