Duke of Edinburgh Awards
The Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme is very much aligned to our 7 values: resilience, responsibility, kind, honest, aspiration, reflective and respectful – just some of the skills young people get through their DofE that help them in life and improve their chances of moving forward in education or getting a job. The DofE experience aims to transform young people’s lives. A DofE Award can be a game-changer, raising young people’s aspirations and opening doors to employment whilst bringing together our school community.

Instrumental Lessons
There are many benefits of learning to play a musical instrument and recent studies have reported that the correlation between musical training and academic success is astounding; learning to play an instrument improves functions like memory and abstract reasoning skills – essential for maths and science. In addition to improving academic, physical and social skills, refines discipline and patience, and boosting self-esteem and self-expression. At The Hollins it also opens up many opportunities for students to take part in a range of extra-curricular activities. Find out more in our Instrumental Lessons Leaflet 2020-2021 V1
