Risky Business!
Andrew left the Hollins in 2014, continuing to study A-Levels and then French and Spanish at University – including study in Puebla, Mexico and Lille, France. Andrew then took a role at EY, one of the ‘big 4’ global accounting firms, specializing in technology risk management working with financial services clients. As part of the graduate programme, Andrew obtained the ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB). In his free time, he sits on the board of trustees at Manchester Mind, a mental health charity.
Andrew really enjoyed his time at The Hollins, in particular the trips that were offered each year (an interest in travel has only grown since). Andrew’s favourite subjects at school were French, Spanish and English (can you sense a theme?), but he also uses Maths, Science, Business, IT and many more in his current role.
Oliver and Amelia are Tackling Organised Crime
Oliver left Hollins in 2013, where he studied Public Services and Adventure sport
Oliver moved to London to join the Metropolitan Police where he policed the Queens funeral, the Kings coronation and much more
Oliver is now Riot and Rapid entry trained to raid houses and businesses identified in Organised Crime Groups (OCG)
Oliver’s favourite subjects were Food Technology and Physical Education, both coming in handy!
PE for sprinting after those who think they can outrun him and baking for cake fines.
Amelia Austin left The Hollins in 2015 and went to study A-levels. She always knew she wanted to be a Police Officer, however she couldn’t do this until she was 18. Therefore, she needed to find something to enjoy until I was old enough to apply when she applied for a Police Staff role at Lancashire Constabulary which gave her some background policing knowledge. following this she moved into another Police role completing safeguarding referrals and then went onto be a PCSO (Police Community Support Officer). This was a great job as it gave her a real insight into policing.
In 2020 Amelia joined Greater Manchester Police as a Police Constable at Rochdale – finally!! this has given her the experience of exciting jobs and scary jobs but the main thing is that everyday she goes to work and loves it! Amelia joined the Organised Crime Gang (OCG) unit in Rochdale for 7 months and developed a passion for dealing with organised crime.
She has also worked within the intelligence unit at Rochdale, developing intelligence and applying for warrants with the courts.
Amelia had a great school experience at The Hollins and was supported with her aspirations to be a Police Officer. For example she was introduced into the Police Cadets by the careers advisor at the time. Her favourite subjects were English and PE , funnily enough both have come in very handy within her career- from statement writing to running after people!

After completing his GCSE’s with us in Summer, Bobby has gone on to join the NFL Academy where he has competed in games in Dublin, Loughborough and played at Tottenham Hotspurs where his team made history by becoming the only British based team to beat the American IMG academy!
We are extremely proud of Bobby and wish him all the best with his career!
